Who We Are
Afifen Business Consult is a training and advisory consultancy based in Abuja.
We train entrepreneurs and small business owners using internationally recognised business development programmes developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and ITCILO.
Our programmes cover different stages of business development. Some help entrepreneurs turn viable ideas into properly planned businesses. Others help existing business owners improve operations, manage finances, reach new markets through exhibitions and trade fairs, build a stronger online presence, and plan for expansion.
We are open to partnerships with development organisations, NGOs, business associations, financial institutions, and government agencies to bring quality business training to more entrepreneurs across Nigeria.
At Afifen Business Consult, we believe every business has a next level. Our role is to help business owners understand what that next level requires and prepare for it with the right knowledge, tools, and support.

Our Training Philosophy
At Afifen Business Consult, how we teach matters as much as what we teach.
Entrepreneurs are adult learners. They come into training with experience, goals, pressure, and real everyday problems. They do not need long lectures that are far from their business reality. They need a learning space that respects what they already know and helps them make better decisions.
Our approach is practical, participatory, and focused on action.
Guided Learning, Active Participation
Our sessions are guided, but participants do not just sit and listen.
They ask questions, share experience, examine their own businesses, and take part in practical activities. We create room for discussion, reflection, and hands-on work.
As facilitators, our role is to provide structure, guide the conversation, and help participants turn lessons into clear steps forward.
Building on Real Experience
Every business owner brings valuable experience into the room.
Some have managed staff or dealt with difficult customers. Others have faced cash flow problems, poor record keeping, low sales, or the pressure to expand before the business is ready.
We treat those real life situations as part of the learning. In our sessions, entrepreneurs learn from the curriculum, from the facilitator, and from one another.
Connecting Lessons to Business Goals
Adults learn best when the lesson connects to a real need.
In our programmes, every tool, activity, and discussion is linked to practical business decisions. We encourage participants to look closely at their own businesses, identify what needs attention, and decide what to do next.
We do not teach theory for its own sake. We use proven frameworks to help business owners think clearly, make better choices, and prepare for their next level.
Solving Real Problems
Our work starts with the actual problems business owners face.
These may include an unclear business idea, weak planning, low sales, poor records, cash flow problems, staffing challenges, limited market access, or expansion without enough structure.
We use internationally recognised ILO training programmes and practical business tools used in over 100 countries to help participants understand the root of the problem, organise their thinking, and develop practical plans they can use.
This is what makes training useful. It must help business owners see more clearly, decide more wisely, and act with better structure.
Our Values
Integrity
A programme worth delivering is worth delivering properly. As certified ILO trainers, we are committed to high standards in preparation, facilitation, and follow-up. We honour that standard in every session we deliver.
Honesty
We believe business owners and partners deserve clear, honest guidance. When a client asks for one programme but needs another form of support, we say so and help them choose the right path.
Excellence
Every participant deserves a session that is well prepared, well facilitated, and worth their time. We prepare carefully, guide the learning process with discipline, and make sure participants leave with clear next steps.
Impact
Training must lead to useful change. We do not measure success only by how many people attend a session. We look at what participants understand better, what they decide to do differently, and what improves in the business afterwards.
Respect
Every business owner comes with real experience, real pressure, and real goals. We value what participants already know, bring their real business situations into the learning process, and treat every enterprise at every stage with serious attention.
Programmes We Deliver
Afifen Business Consult delivers internationally recognised business development training through certified facilitators.
ILO Start and Improve Your Business
The ILO Start and Improve Your Business programme supports entrepreneurs at different stages of business development.
We deliver:
- GYB: Generate Your Business Idea For people who want to develop and test a viable business idea.
- SYB: Start Your Business For new entrepreneurs who are ready to plan and set up their businesses properly.
- IYB: Improve Your Business For existing business owners who want to improve operations, records, marketing, costing, and overall business performance.
- EYB: Expand Your Business For established enterprises that are preparing for structured expansion.
ILO Financial Education
The ILO Financial Education programme helps participants make better financial decisions.
It covers practical areas such as budgeting, saving, spending wisely, borrowing carefully, planning ahead, and managing financial risks. The training uses practical exercises, case studies, role play, and group discussion, so participants leave with tools they can apply in their own lives and businesses.
ILO Improve Your Exhibition Skills
The ILO Improve Your Exhibition Skills programme helps entrepreneurs prepare for trade fairs, exhibitions, and market access opportunities.
Many business owners pay for exhibition space but do not get the results they expected. This programme helps them plan before the event, present their products well, speak with potential buyers, collect useful contacts, and follow up after the exhibition.
ITCILO Women in Digital Business
The ITCILO Women in Digital Business programme helps women entrepreneurs use digital tools more effectively in their businesses.
It covers practical areas such as online visibility, social media, messaging apps, websites, e-commerce, digital payments, customer communication, and digital business processes. Participants are guided to develop a digital action plan that fits their business goals.
